The 2020 ISRA Summer Youth Program attracted a fine crowd of bright and engaged patrons in order to strengthen their identities as Muslims from their youth. ISRA recognizes the importance of educating the youth as the future of our booming nation, in order to foster a respect for their deen from a young age. In the increasingly secular Australian landscape the Summer Youth Program was designed to ensure that our youth stayed strong on their path, whilst providing a fun set of activities to strengthen friendships and commitment to the community.
The Summer Youth Program was open to all those from year 7 to 10 with separate classes for boys and girls. The program ran from the 14th to the 17th of January from 10am to 2pm with a wide range of classes and activities. Participants were engaged with classes ranging from self-care and empowerment to mindfulness in Salah, but it wasn't all classes. The program also included numerous invigorating activities from kickboxing to drama activities and even creating a glorious profiterole tower. However, behind all this fun was a serious goal, to ensure that our youth feels comfortable in their Muslim identity and recognizes the support all around them from their heartwarming community not only in ISRA but as a part of the wider Muslim community.
We'd like to extend our gratitude to all those who helped and spoke as well as to the participants for opening their hearts up to this program.
