Dr Suleyman Sertkaya will discuss the most distinguishing characteristics of the Shamail works as well as introduce the hadith scholar, Imam al-Tirmidhi. Dr Suleyman Sertkaya graduated from the School of Theology at University of Marmara, Istanbul. He pursued his MA in the Tafsir (exegesis) discipline of Islamic sciences, with a particular focus on the exegesis of the Qur’an. His thesis was titled An Analysis of Surah al-Kahf Based on the Subject-Based Qur’anic Exegesis Method. Suleyman completed his PhD thesis at Australian Catholic University on Sīrah discipline. His major interests are Sīrah of the Prophet, Sīrah Philosophy, Exegesis of the Qur’an, Hadīth (Prophetic Tradition), Interpretation of Islamic Sacred Texts, Islamic Theology, Radicalisation and Islam, Comparative Theology, Islam and Morality, Interfaith Dialogue and History of Islam and Muslims in Australia.
