Before you commit to a FULL Islamic Studies degree why not try this short taster course to get a feel for what it’s like to engage in online studies? This taster course will look at the topic of Sirah including structured lectures, discussions, readings and short quizzes.

Week 1 Wed 9 June – Meccan Period: Persecution of Early Muslims and Prophetic Response
Week 2 Wed 16 June – Medinan Period: The Prophetic response to Other forms of Violence
Week 3 22 June – Controversial Issues in Sirah: Was he the Prophet of the sword

This taster course will be presented by Dr Suleyman Sertkaya who underwent a PhD research on The Sirah Genre: An Evaluation of Contemporary Scholar’s Approach. He also lectures with us at the Centre of Islamic Studies and Civilisation, CISAC.
