About the instructor: 

Heather has been teaching various community courses on Islam since 2013, including Sirah, Wisdom of the Prophets, Ihsan and more. Heather is also a guest speaker on Islam in schools and community organisations. She was the Principal of ISRA’s Youth College from 2011 to 2016. She has a Masters in Islamic Studies from Charles Sturt University, with her thesis in Islamic Environmental Ethics and has almost completed a Masters in Arabic. Heather has been studying the fiqh of menstruation since 2019. She has studied with Ustadha Hedaya Hartford and Ustadha Naielah Ackbarali. She has completed Ustadha Naielah Ackbarali’s teachers’ training to teach her book Blossom: A Muslim Girl’s Period Guide.

The text for the class is Blossom: A Muslim Girl’s Period Guide by Ustadha Naielah Ackbarali. It will be available for purchase during class for $22 or can be purchased from Amazon. A copy of the book is highly recommended, although it is not essential for the class.
